Course Description

This course is available for students in years 11, 12 and 13.

This course develops employability skills linked to practical work experience.

It offers the opportunity to develop students' career pathways and the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

This course will allow students to work through a learning plan based on their own academic needs and career interests. This course develops the career management competencies: know yourself, explore opportunities, decide and act. Students will identify possible career pathways and investigate options for tertiary study and employment. There is an emphasis on job seeking skills, the responsibilities and expectations of both a good employee and a good employer, and employment trends. Other topics include income, taxation, budgeting, communication skills, and working in a team. Students will be enrolled in up to 20 credits of class work depending of the level they are working at. Students will also have the opportunity to complete a work experience placement and complete an additional 20 credit customer service award.
