NCEA Level 3 Mathematics with Calculus

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Paull.

Mathematics with Calculus covers standards in Algebra, Trigonometry, Conic Sections, Differentiation and Integration. The Algebra, Differentiation and Integration standards are assessed externally. All standards in this course require a high level of algebra.

This course is fundamental background to tertiary study in Engineering, Architecture, Veterinary Science, Health Science and the Physical sciences.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students need to have studied 12MAT or 12MAX  at level 2.

In addition they need to have at least 12 credits in Mathematics at Level 2.

In addition students need to have passed the Level 2 Algebra (AS91261) and Calculus (AS91262) external standards. Voiding either of these papers will mean students will not gain entrance to this course.

Students also need to attain a mark of over 60% in the Burnside High School Graphing assignment.
