Year 11 additional English as a Second Language

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms L. Harrison.

This course covers the study and use of written language, the development and command of written language, and an understanding and critical awareness of a range of texts and genres. Its particular focus is to strengthen basic English language skills. Successful completion of the course will gain 20 NCEA credits. Students who study 11ESO do so in conjunction with 11ESL. Extensive supplementary work is expected beyond the classroom in revising grammar and extending vocabulary.


Recommended Prior Learning

Successful completion of 10 ESL or with the approval of HOD ESOL. This course is specifically designed for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other languages) students.
