There are no prerequisites for students to take Level 3 Sports Leadership & Performance.

This course will suit students who are confident in communicating and leading acitivites and events and students who enjoy participating in and coaching various sports.

Assessment Information

Although this course offers mostly practical experiences, there is theory work to complete to meet assessment requirements. Theory is applied to all practical situations, sports and activities.

This is a Unit Standards course, which is designed to offer students a wide range of skills in Sports Leadership and at the same time gain accreditation for their achievements within the National Qualifications Framework. This course contributes towards NCEA Level 3 (17 credits), with all 17 credits internally assessed. Unit Standards operate on an achieved/not achieved basis for each performance criteria in each element. You need to pass every performance criteria in every element for each of the unit standards.

Te Mahi Ako and Toi Mai are the Government agencies responsible for all organisations running vocational training in the Sport, Fitness and Outdoor Recreation area. All standards, policy and procedure and assessments have been approved by this controlling body.
