NCEA Level 2 Engineering
Course Description

Year 12 Engineering is a course that is designed to cater for a range of students and offers a wide selection of Achievement and Unit Standards that allow students to undertake a course for which Excellence Endorsement is possible. Students are able to negotiate a course that can be adapted to meet individual interests and talents.
Students will gain specialized knowledge and experience during the design and manufacture of their project. Students will have a wide range of project options and will be encouraged to enroll in at least one Level 3 Standard that will enable them to incorporate components made using CNC routers, CNC plasma, laser cutter and 3D printers to compliment parts made using traditional methods in order to increase student scope and interest.
Level 3 Standards have been successfully incorporated into this course and provides an solid knowledge base for Year 13 and preparation for those students contemplating Scholarship the following year.
The knowledge and skills learnt should assist students in making informed choices about further educational and career options in a wide range of technology related fields.

Recommended Prior Learning
Open entry, however a Technology subject at Level 1 is advantageous.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
The students are charged $110 for materials. If students choose to manufacture projects above this value the additional costs will be calculated and agreed upon prior to the student commencing.
